Point 2. Adverb-auxiliaries

English ภาษาไทย
 I'll go home.  ผมจะกลับบ้าน
 He's not here.   เขาไม่อยู่ที่นี่
Did you ever go to Chiangmai?  คุณเคยไปเชียงใหม่ไหม
You have to expend a little
When the rice is ripe, we then
 harvest it.
 เมื่อข้าวสุก เราก็ไปเกี่ยวข้าวกัน

The words in bold-face type are called adverb-auxiliaries because they are partly like auxiliary verbs (e.g.
tO3N 'must') and partly like adverbs (e.g. khəּj 'ever'). They are classed together because they stand between the subject and the verb. There can be more than one adverb-auxiliary between the subject and the verb and in this event their order is fixed. This is taken up under the next point.
