  1. Say these English words alowly, prolonging the "ng" sound.     

             Hanging             Singer

There should be no 'g' sound as in 'finger'.  Say following phrases      using the fist n to help you make the second.

  1. Compare    n  yy (UU), g{u  ee, and {k aa. They are all unrounded.   For   yy, the teeth are close, for  AA, and aa, a little open, for aa, open.    

Say:

  vnjo y@yn another
  gvuho A#An call
  vjko a@an read

          Compare the English word 'urn' and the Lao word gvuho  A@An. They should sound different.

  1. Most words which end in a short vowel are cut off short.  Say the following.
  g|ktlq, mO# so%m suitable
  xJkdao pa# kan divorce
  gxtgInvo pE# hy#an close to home
  g8t[ko te# baan play soccer
  gdu[g8t kA^Ap tE& rubber slippers
  0uh8q;t khi^i tu#a to lie
