  1. Remember the vowel "ee" (g    y)  is said with unrounded lips.  It should not have an English "r" sound.

  1. The first vowel in "pha2asa4a" is shortened somewhat.  The second one is long with a low rising tone.  Listen closely to the rhythm of the following phrase, then repeat.  Not the tones.

  2. Read the following English sentences out lound. 

          1) Are you studying Lao or Thai?

  1. Read them again and compare the tone on the word "Lao" in #1 and in #2.  Which one is more like the tone on the Lao word "la2aw"?   If you say #1, you are right.  If you are having difficulty with saying the high tone in Lao, use the tone of "Lao" in #1 above to help you.  Practice the following high tone words.
