16. In Dandaka Forest
In Dandaka forest Rama built a lodge house. Everyday Rama hunted animals for food and Laksamana gathered fruits. Sita prepared the food and also collected flowers for religious ceremonies.
Rama liked hunting deer. He slaugthered the captured deer and sliced the meat, then dried it. Sita always looked after the meat that was being dried. But a flock of crows smelled the meat and snatched it until it was completely gone.
One day, Rama did not go hunting because he wanted to know what kind of animal stole their meat. Finally he found out that the crows did it. From a hiding place Rama shot those crows with his arrows. One by one those stealing birds were wounded by Rama's arrows and fell to the ground. From then on, no one stole their meat anymore.
