Curious as to whether Illinois' junior senator is a crazed terrorist? Click here to see The Daily Show's take on this. (AWAS:  this video makes nasty fun of many things, but does include a brief shot of an Indonesian school [1 minute from the end], so it's educational and therefore legitimately used on this page.)

derf's cartoon  NOTE:  A satire! Not making fun of Islam!  Sort of -- OK, pretty much -- making fun of Western view of Islam!

BERASAL DARI MANA?

Pakailah ("use") link ini.   This link will get you to some material about Indonesia's many provinces (Propinsi).   Go exploring and find out as much as you can.  (CAUTION:  This is a work in progress, so you may find some goofed-up links.  Keep trying other links! -- see below)

Be sure to click where it says "more about..." the various regions so that you can see the pakaian (clothing), rumah adat (traditional houses), tarian (dances) and senjata (weapons) of each region.   Also, check out the map page to find the name of the provincial capital.

Tulislah begini (=Write like this):  "Propinsi Sumatra Barat terletak di sebelah barat Pulau Sumatra.  Ibu kotanya bernama Padang.   Tariannya bernama Tari Payung.  Senjatanya bernama karih.  Rumah adatnya bernama Rumah Gadang."

The meN- prefix -- Mungkin ini membosankan, tetapi perlu.

Belajarlah tentang jamu!
Here are some JAMU sites:
        http://www.jagoherbs.com/
        http://www.jamuiboe.com/
        http://www.airmancur.co.id (many dead links)
or Google "jamu" for many, many sites

At the bottom of the page you can link to pages with lots of scanned jamu packages -- choose one or two, click on the small picture to get the large picture, then PRINT IT (ask for help if you don't know how to do this), and write (on the page(s) with the printed picture) about what you think the jamu is for.  (Also see below -- some of my favorites.) You can use the SEAsite dictionary,  or try KEBI -- Kamus Elektronik Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian electronic dictionary) -- just press "Search" to find a word.
For example: this jamu packagejamu32.jpg (15322 bytes) is "Jamu Sari Asmara untuk Wanita" -- "sari" means "essence," "asmara" means "love" -- guess what this jamu is for!  Now find some of your own.

JANGAN LUPA ("don't forget"):  you can learn body parts on SEAsite .
