CSCI 240 Web-based Electronic Assignment Submission

Instructions for Students

8/17/06

Summary

1. Once you have written, documented, and debugged your program you should submit the source code (the .cpp file) electronically via the web using the URL (Web address):  www.cs.niu.edu/~csci240.  This must be done before the due date and time to avoid a penalty.

Note: when you submit your program electronically, you will see a confirmation Web page in your browser.  Print this out and attach it to the front of your printed source code (see point 2 below).

2. In addition, you must place a printed copy of your source code (plus confirmation of electronic submission) in the CSL Lab drop box before the due date and time.  Normally this will be 3 pm Friday, but there may be exceptions.

Details

When you submit your program electronically, you will see places to enter information about you and your assignment:

When the TA looks at these files, they will be named and located by a combination of your z-id, section number, and assignment number.

So a mistake in any of these can cause your program to be misplaced or lost.

Again, if you

the file could end up in the wrong place and might not be found.

It is your responsibility to submit assignments correctly.  We understand that you may make a mistake (but not two!). If you do make a mistake it is your obligation to inform us.  You will suspect that you have made a mistake if a program that you submitted is not returned.

Therefore, it is your responsibility to pick up assignments in class when they are handed back, or, failing that, to check with your instructor within the week to pick up the assignment.

If you do not do this in a timely fashion, it is entirely possible that you might not get credit for the assignment.

Note: you may submit an assignment electronically more than once (for example, if you find a mistake in the version you submitted and want to correct it).  Obviously, you must do this before the due date.  Only the most recent copy of your program is saved and that version will be the one that is graded.  If you do this, be sure to place an updated printed copy in the drop box, marked "Grade this one".

Finally, if you are submitting a late assignment, you must email your TA to inform him or her of this fact.  If you do not, your program might not ever be graded.
