This page is new and we will continue to improve this page and add more activities for teachers. This page contains pages that are relevant to language teaching and learning.

Communicative Activities

These lesson plans are in PDF format, and require the Adobe Acrobat Reader for viewing and printing. These activities are simple, easy to modify for your own classroom use, and are appropriate for multi-level learners.

Articles on Language Teaching

These are short articles on various topics:  grammar, learners' autonomy, teaching principles, and many others related to teaching and learning.

Lesson Plans

These Lessons provide an outline for Tagalog Language teachers who are interested in integrating the web-based lessons in this site with their classroom teaching.  The themes in these lessons are based on the textbook, Conversational Tagalog (Ramos, 1985).  These lessons are merely suggested outline for classroom use.

Filipino Games

This page consists of simple traditional games for classroom use.  These games can be modified  and used to fit chosen language content.  For example, Agawan Sulok could be a game appropriate for teaching commands and directions. Bulong Pari can be modified for vocabulary practice and use.

Filipino Songs

This page contains popular contemporary, religious, love and folk songs.  Some of these songs have audio that can be downloaded for free.

Filipino Celebrations

This page is a good resource for relating culture (i.e. Filipino Festival) with language context.   Descriptions and appropriate behaviour are listed on each festival page.   These festivals are categorized according to the month they are celebrated in the Philippines.

Philippine Folktales

These are short popular folktales translated into English that can be used as an enrichment in the language classroom.  Students can be encouraged to translate a foktale into Tagalog.   These stories are organized by regions in the Philippines.

Philippine Food

One of the authentic ways of bringing the culture of the target language into the classroom is teaching food preparation and actual food tasting to language learners.  Authentic food items can help build vocabulary and generate discussion on cultural differences.

Philippine Literature

This a page of short stories, poems, and essays written in English.  Similar to the folktales, these can also be used as an enrichment in the classroom.  Student summary of these can help build fluency and language progress.
