Pansit (noodles), lugaw (rice porridge), and lumpia (spring rolls and egg rolls) are very popular dishes among Filipinos. Special occasions such as birthdays, baptism, town fiestas, and other celebrations almost always have a noodle dish and spring or egg rolls, usually as appetizers. Rice porridges on the other hand are common afternoon or midnight snacks.
Some noodle dishes come with sabaw (soup). They are good hearty and filling snacks for the hardworking Filipino, especially during the rainy, and often colder, months from June to September. Aside from noodles, there are also other soup dishes made with local vegetables, seafood, and meat.
