In Honor of San Isidro Labrador

San Isidro Labrador is the patron saint of farmers in the Philippines.

Many festivals, such as the Carabao Festival and Pahiyas, are held for plentiful harvests. Good harvests are important because the Philippines has primarily an agricultural economy. Main crops include rice, corn, sugarcane, and coconuts. Festivals occur in May, the month of rest between one season's harvest and the next season's planting. Everyone, not just farmers, enjoy's these celebrations, and they take a break from work to revel ion the festivities.
