
THE WORLDWIDE CHURCH OF GOD, an
evangelical denomination with 70,000 members, is active in more than 100 countries and
territories and maintains its international headquarters in Pasadena, California. The Worldwide Church of God embraces
two broad purposes: To proclaim the gospel of the kingdom of God; and to make
disciples of those who are interested, baptizing them and teaching them the commands of
Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19-20). The Church is first and foremost a pastoral
organization. More than 1,800 ordained ministers n the Church serve members in over 840
congregations around the world.

Herbert W. Armstrong died. He was succeeded by Joseph W. Tkach who holds the office of
Pastor General and chief administrative officer of the church. Mr. Tkach is a long-time
Church minister and administrator. After his death in 1996, his son Joseph Tkach Jr.
succeeded him.
- William J. Sidney is presently the
Regional Director of the Worldwide Church of God in the Philippines.
