This year's keynote speaker is Dr. Saroja Dorairajoo. Dr. Dorairajoo is an anthropologist at the National University of Singapore and an expert on the separatist movement in southern Thailand. She is on leave at Yale University as a post-doctoral researcher beginning in January.

Academic awards for Graduate and Undergraduate students: A monetary award of TBA will be granted to the best Graduate paper. TBA for the best Undergraduate paper. The papers will be judged and ranked by various NIU professors who are of related fields in advance of the conference. Prizes will be awarded the day of the conference, February 26th, 2005.
