Monday Meeting Minutes

August 30, 2004

5:00-6:45 pm, Adams Hall Basement

Attendance: Dom, Carolina, Lee, Mary, Luke, Jason J., Jenn

Carolina: Check about Northern Star payments from last year

Informational Meeting: 9/3

-         noon, Campus Life room 110

-         Everyone: post flyers!

-         Dom: look into getting food

Weekly meeting time:

-         Mondays, 5:00pm, HSC Room 503

Carolina: get officer change forms and bring them to the next meeting

The Center Council Representative will be Dom.

Keep in mind that the Organizational Expo will be held Thursday, September 16.  We’ll need volunteers to staff our table.  We will set up a schedule once we have received the necessary information from the SA.

Culture nights and events for this year:

-         Indonesia Night: 10/8

-         Philippine Night: 11/19

-         All Southeast Asia Night: 2/25

-         Student Paper Conference: 2/26

o       Jason J.: bring deadline dates/schedule/venue ideas to the next meeting

-         Vietnamese or Mainland SEA night?: 4/15

o       Luke: talk to the VSA and the PSA about cooperating on culture nights

-         Mary: book venues

-         Everyone: we need suggestions on good venues for culture nights that are within walking distance to campus!

-         Thesis Writing Seminar: we will work on this at the next meeting

-         SEA Center potluck party at Dr. Russell’s house on 9/10

o       We will schedule set up and clean up teams at the next meeting

Dom: write letter for membership solicitation

Membership dues idea:

-         new price: uniform dues of $5 or $10 and a free Club t-shirt

-         Dom: price t-shirts and work on a design (t-shirts are a good idea even if we don’t change the dues)

THERE WILL BE NO MEETING NEXT MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 6.  MEETINGS WILL RESUME ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 13 IN HSC ROOM 503.
