Monday Meeting Minutes

September 29, 2003

6:00-7:00 pm, HSC 303

Attendance: Jason, Carolina, Tyler, Kashfi, Dom, Michael, Lee, Maggie, Jenn

Web page update: Dom

-         Dom talked to Z and he will set us up to create and maintain the site

-         The site will be simple – a framework that other years can use

-         What do we want on it?

o       Membership information

o       Club email address

o       Maps

o       Officer list, event list, pictures, club logo, minutes posted, event flyers posted (Jenn to email all of this to Dom)

o       Do we want to start a club listserv?

o       Mission statement (Jason to look for this)

Membership application: Jenn to talk to Julie, change form, and forward it to Dom to be posted on the web site

PAISA update: Maggie

-         They had their first meeting last Wednesday (9/24)

-         Upcoming events:

o       ISA (Indian Student Association)

§         Divali Night (date not set)

§         FUSION 2004 (date not set)

o       PSA (Philippine Student Association)

§         Mass Meeting – 10/8

§         Date Auction – 10/23

§         Rice Bowl (touch football) – some Saturday in early November

o       VSA (Vietnamese Student Association

§         FREE conversational Vietnamese classes on Tuesdays

o       PAISA

§         Bowling tournament – 10/23 (please let us know if you are interested in putting a bowling team together)

T-shirts: Tyler

            - Tyler will take point on this, come up with some designs and also investigate a new club logo (the logo we use now is actually the Southeast Asian Center logo)

Indonesia Night:

-         Puppeteer money – we need to know how much he is now asking and make a decision this week

-         Food: box dinner, we will preorder

-         Jenn & Carolina to start the flyer – we will need help posting the flyers around campus

-         Jenn to talk to Nancy about sending an email

Event Locations:

-         Philippine Night will be on 11/21 a the Emmanuel Lutheran Church on Russell Road

-         We are negotiating with Emmanuel Lutheran for the other nights as well

Philippine Night:

-         We will start on this next week

-         Act ideas:

o       Stick fighting

o       The Philippine family that performed at the World Music Concert last semester (Jason & Jenn to ask Dr. Han for contact information)

All Southeast Asia Night:

-         Chandra has volunteered to be our contact person for any Thai acts we may need

Burmese Night:

-         Tyler is talking to the Burmese Student Association about participating in Burmese Night

Conference Coordinator:

-         Dom and Lee thinking about being co-coordinators

Social Night:

-         Movies and pizza?

-         Come next week with possible dates for this semester

Future attendance:

-         Michael will not be at the next meeting because of an SA budget meeting

-         Carolina will not be at Indonesia Night
