40. Constructing the Bridge

Lord Baruna announced his willingness to help the monkey troops cross the ocean.  He suggested to them that they build a stone bridge that connected the south coast with the Island of Langka, which could then be used to cross the ocean. Rama again shot his arrow so that the ocean water became normal.

Sugriwa ordered his troops to collect stones to make the bridge. Ten thousands of monkey troops went to the mountains to dig up big stones, then carried them to the beach, and finally put them down into the ocean. These stones were piled up one by one. The construction  spanned from the south coast to the beach of Langka Island. That stone bridge was very strong, and it could hold the weight of ten thousands of monkeys.
