Then Rama and Laksamana travelled to Pancawati forest. They walked a great distance, cutting their way through bushes, climbing mountains, and walking along beaches. They felt great peace looking at the blue sky and the ocean beneath the horizon.

The two Ayodya warriors took a rest under a shady tree. Suddenly, they saw a white monkey keeping an eye on them. That monkey looked both wise and courteous. He then knelt before Rama and Laksamana. He introduced himself as Hanuman from Pancawati.
