"This is from the last of the
supplies, Kakang (="older brother," a respectful term for a
young man). That's alright, isn't it? One person's portion can do for
two."
"Hopefully tomorrow we'll get good fortune..." "(The food
should) just be for you, Miss Ciblon."
(Offstage sounds: "ngah! ngahah!"); cegluk = sound of the child
swallowing hard at the sight of food.
"The small mouth is the one that needs (this food). Here, eat
(it), ok, Bujel (= affectionate term for a little boy)."
"Thank you, Aunty Ciblon..."
"When he was saying 'No need to worry...', his mouth...."
[The man going "ngaah" is someone of high rank (as seen from his clothes,
and by the respectful position of the young man's hands). His mouth has apparently
frozen open after having uttered the obviously false statement that there was nothing to
worry about -- a reference to the economic situation in Indonesia now, where there is
something to worry about.]
"The small mouth is the one that's honest." [Facts -- the small
mouth is hungry -- speak louder than words.]
