Notes

1. Although the Myanmar scripts are said to be derived from the southern Indian scripts, the Myanmar people modified them from the beginning to suit the sounds of their own language.
2. Do not be confused if you hear the same sound when you listen to the third and fourth letter of the top five rows. These letters in each row are pronounced the same.
3. Notice that, in each of the top five rows, the first letter is always unaspirated while the second is aspirated.
4. At this stage, you may skip the third row. These scripts sound the same as those in the fourth row and seldom appear in writing pure Myanmar words.
5. If you have problem hearing the scripts differently, you may use the following table of the romanized scripts .

6. Although A  [ á ] is not a consonant linguistically, it has been regarded as one traditionally.
